- 1 kg of beef cut into pieces
- 2 onions, chopped
- 250 grams of dried figs
- 30 ml of vegetable oil , preferably extra-virgin olive oil
- A pinch of saffron
- Two tablespoons of honey
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- One teaspoon of butter
- 4 cloves of minced garlic
- Half a teaspoon of ground ginger
- Half a teaspoon of pepper
- One tablespoon of sesame seeds (for decoration)
- Salt to taste
- Walnuts (optional)
- Water
Instructions
- Now for the preparation:
In a tagine, pour the oil, meat, onions, spices (salt, pepper, saffron, and ginger), garlic, and stir everything for 5 minutes - Cover the meat with water and cook for 40 minutes (until the meat is cooked)
- Poach figs in water.
- Drain and then return them to pot.
- Add honey, butter and cinnamon and cook for 10 minutes
- Place the figs on top of the cooked meat with sesame seeds and nuts (optional).
