Green peas and potatoes chicken tagine
There are so many variants of this very famous green peas and potatoes chicken tagine here in Morocco, that’s why you are going to find so many “similar” recipes in this website, they are not all the same, and they differ a lot.

Ingredients
- 1 chicken
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 3 potatoes cut into large wedges
- 1 cup of frozen green peas
- 1 onion, cut into strips
- 1 tomato, grated
- Half a teaspoon of pepper
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of ground ginger (if you do not quite like the taste of ground ginger, you can put half a teaspoon)
- 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley
- 100 ml of warm water
- A pinch of saffron
Instructions
- Now for the preparation:
In a pan, place all the ingredients except the vegetables (peas and potatoes) and mix very well. Cook at pressure for 20 minutes. - And if using a tagine, pour the oil and all the ingredients and cook over low heat until chicken and vegetables are cooked. In mid-cooking, check to make sure that there is enough liquid.
- In a pressure cooker, check that the chicken is cooked and then add the potatoes and green peas. Cook for 5 minutes in your pressure cooker.
- Presentation: Place the chicken on a plate and potatoes, green peas and sauce over and around it.
